Show Notes
Ubers new nationwide feature, Women Drivers, allows female passengers to request female drivers, while female drivers can prefer women riders. This comes amidst a discrimination lawsuit in California. Lyft faces a similar suit for its own feature. Uber tested the feature last year and expanded it to 26 U.S. cities. Both companies have dealt with sexual assault reports, with Uber held responsible for a 2023 assault. The feature aims to boost safety and attract more female drivers, but excludes nonbinary users based on license gender.
