Show Notes
Mabel Wong, a young leukemia survivor, and her family found solace at Camp Okizu, a nonprofit for children and families dealing with childhood cancer. After a grueling seven-month hospital stay, Mabel rang the remission bell in January 2022, marking her return home. The Wongs discovered a sense of belonging at Camp Okizu, where they connected with others and found relief from their isolation. The camp, which means togetherness in Japanese, is building a new site in Calaveras, California, and hosts an annual Art Inspiring Hope Gala to support its mission.
