President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday paving the way for a deal to keep TikTok operating in the United States. Under the plan, the app and its algorithms would be owned and controlled by majority American investors. The president also authorized the use of the death penalty in Washington and said he plans to sign another executive order this week aimed at dismantling “domestic terrorism networks.”
New evidence has been released in Wednesday's deadly shooting at a Dallas ICE facility. Authorities say handwritten notes reveal that ICE personnel and property—not detainees—were the intended targets, and that the suspected shooter did not expect to survive the attack.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration is bracing for a possible government shutdown, advising federal agencies to prepare reduction-in-force plans for layoffs. Senate Democrats continue to hold firm on allowing government funding to lapse.
