President Donald Trump says NATO countries are now “getting much nicer” about opening the Strait of Hormuz, a day after he threatened to let them take full responsibility for the strait’s security. Israel says Iran no longer has the capacity to enrich uranium or produce ballistic missiles. This comes as the Pentagon declared that the United States is “winning decisively” while assuring Americans that Operation Epic Fury is nothing like the “forever” wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Senate Homeland Security Committee has voted to advance the nomination of Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.). Trump’s nominee to replace outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem now heads to the floor for a full Senate vote.
Long lines at airport security are appearing at more major airports as DHS funding remains stalled in Congress. With the Department of Homeland Security in a partial shutdown, Transportation Security Administration employees have been working without pay as the United States enters peak spring break travel season.
