Two children have been killed and several others injured in a shooting at a Catholic school Mass in Minneapolis. Authorities say a gunman opened fire, hitting students during their first week back at school. The White House has lowered flags nationwide in mourning.
Continuing his efforts to negotiate peace, President Donald Trump is increasing economic pressure on Russia and chairing talks on Gaza’s future. He is also floating a name change for the Department of Defense—reverting it to its original name, the “Department of War”—as U.S. adversaries ramp up military drills and cooperation.
As federal law enforcement presence grows on the streets of Washington, the city’s mayor says it has had a positive impact on reducing crime. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is taking over management of D.C.’s Union Station and announcing new plans to revamp New York City’s Penn Station.
