S1 Ep 9#9 Brown noise, book dedications & murders
Is your noise white, pink or brown? Heather dived into a rabbit hole and discovered the brown stuff (apologies from me, Tracy, for childish sniggering about poo). Then we discovered that Heather seems quite confident about writing a book dedication. Now she just has to write a book. I can't even think of a decent team name for a murder mystery party! And if you are planning to host a murder mystery party be sure to invite Heather - she can't wait to ask intrusive questions of all of the guests, whether they are actors or not. I will just be sat in the corner trying to come up with a team name.... Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

S1 Ep 8#8 Blind date apps, the Nobel Peace Prize & sharing mental health stories
Yeah right Heather... you were looking at the blind date app (Blindlee was the name she was searching for as we chatted) purely for research purposes. We believe you! But what you mind find difficult to believe is that I (Tracy) was NOT talking through a piece of crinkly cellophane at times during this episode (dunno, what happened to the sound quality but apologies for any annoyance caused). It is true that I did NOT win the Nobel Peace Prize this year (nor the approx 1m euros) but that I will be attending the award ceremony in formal and solemn attire. And, finally, a big shout out to those courageous folk (thanks, Nigel!) who share their mental health issues to help others. S1 Ep 7#7 Return to Sender, swearing is good for us, retirement & working in pubs
EHave you ever wondered what happens to clothes you send to charity shops that don't get sold? We found out that they could be getting sent to Uganda where they are upcycled and "returned to sender" by selling them back to the global north. But who on earth donates shirts with sweat stains under the arms?? Heather confidently announced that swearing is good for us and so please be prepared for a few expletives as we look after our wellbeing in this episode. As if talking about elephant penises last week wasn't enough..... Then Tracy wonders about retirement and permaculture. What will Heather be doing when she retires? Will she ever retire? Finally, Heather gets us back onto the subject of pubs and suggests that we all move our offices to our local. Cheers! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

S1 Ep 6#6 Fascinating elephants, we've got Hagitude and grunt as we stand up
EHeather's day began rather unconventionally considering she was at a business networking breakfast. She wasn't expecting to hear about a project to harvest the semen of elephants and other magnificent creatures. Manhandling an elephant penis seems like a niche job.... Moving swiftly on, we then contemplated the reasons behind the old person noise we (ageing folks) all seem to make as we stand up. It's science you know! And we've now added a new word to our dictionary (and book to our wishlists). Hagitude - and we proudly declare that we are hags with attitude. Hosted on Acast. S1 Ep 5#5 Move to Antarctica, Simon Squibb & The Conversation
Broadcasting from an office this week instead of a pub and missing our half pints of beer and bags of crisps, but grateful for not having to edit out so much background noise. We contemplate the benefits of moving 9,000 miles away to count penguins, the altruism of Simon Squibb's project to support budding entrepreneurs and discover a new (to us) website with academic rigour and journalistic flair. S1 Ep 4#4 Wild swimming, The Paper Hound bookshop, job titles & emigrating
After a brief pub crawl (looking for a quiet spot to chat, honest) we found ourselves back in our usual pub and quickly decided that next week we need to rethink our choices...... so, apologies for the background noise (although the little girls who came toddling over to us were very cute). This week we chat about wild swimming (Tracy is a recent convert), a fab sounding bookshop called The Paper Hound in Canada, the benefit of having the right job title (or not). We also contemplated the possibility of emigrating..... (are there good bookshops in New Zealand?) Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

S1 Ep 3#3 Great big dialect hunt, wear sunscreen and it's ok to stop
This week we settled ourselves in to the pub (it's becoming our regular) turned on the microphones Ihurrah!) and talked about talking, shared our thoughts on whether it's ok to stop watching a film/tv show or stop reading a book that wasn't working for us (spoiler: yes it is) and Heather was touched by a blast from the past that urges you to wear sunscreen. S1 Ep 2#2 Desert Island Dicks, quiet quitting, over 45s don't look like that & baby names
Oops. As experienced as we are as broadcasters, we still failed on the tech front this week [note to self, remember to turn microphone on next week!]. So, apologies for a bit of sound distortion for the first 5 minutes.Sat inside a pub this week we pontificate on the subject of things we wish we'd thought of (namely the Desert Island Dicks podcast), the misery of quiet quitting, the truly bizarre art work used by a health coaching company to attract 45+ year olds to their service (good luck with that) and the benefit of non gender specific baby names. We also drank cider (Heather) and lager (Tracy) and ate a bag of crisps each, but got the munching out of the way before we started to record. S1 Ep 1#1 Dangerous walkers, the best cities & 4 day weeks
After years of presenting radio shows & podcasts produced to (nearly) professional standards, Tracy & Heather challenge themselves with a totally different choice - not necessarily a good one! They grapple with the issues caused by background noise in the beer garden they've chosen as the location to talk about the dangers of walking on the wrong side of the road, the best cities to live in & the joys of working a 4 day week. You'll also hear how Heather got her leg over at the steam fair last weekend.
