Episode 12: Payload

Continuing our discussion of the various worldview change techniques used in the context of science fiction and fantasy stories, we explore how normalization (sometimes using repetition), behavioural and attitudinal pre-programming, and disarmament through comic relief can be used to modify the audiences' worldviews. We provide examples from popular films and shows, including Captain America, Thor, Voltron, the Avengers Assemble, Clone Wars, Luke Cage, Alita: Battle Angel, Ghost in the Shell and the Green Lantern. We also discuss the works of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. Finally, near the end of the show we are joined by a special guest who helps us thoroughly deconstruct the movie Ant-man and the Wasp.
