We start October on a very windy note, thanks to a low pressure system located in southern Canada. Saturday kicks off with strong winds in the western Dakotas, moving to the eastern part of the tri-state region later in the day. The strong west wind could see some areas with gusts up to 50 mph in North Dakota.

This weekend brings back the sunshine for a majority of the region, and temperatures will warm up in response. Friday evening will still be cloudy with areas in northern Minnesota and the Red River Valley seeing occasional snow flurries. These clear on out as we head into a sunny Saturday afternoon. Sunday will also see a big jump in temperatures with 50s and 60s making a return.
