According to a recent Boston Globe article, Boston Public Schools had been warned as early as 2021 by their commercial transportation insurer to improve bus driver training and safety measures. In March of 2025, National Interstate decided against renewing the district’s coverage due to an increasing number of accidents. Less than two months later, the unthinkable happened…5-year-old Lens Joseph was struck and killed by a BPS school bus.
