God has shone in our hearts to give light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Paul says that this immeasurable treasure resides in us, mere “jars of clay,” to show that this gift is about God and not us.

The Holy Spirit empowers each of us to walk every day in the freedom and purpose of Christ. We can be confident in our purpose, not because of our own work, but because the Spirit of God works through us to make us more like Jesus every day.

We are commissioned by God to share our story and to be the fragrance of life to a dying world. For those who have eyes to see it, the difficulties of life reflect the Gospel. Our purpose is to spread the fragrance of life so others see the hope of resurrection!

Our purpose is to glorify God! God promised to use every detail of our life— both good and bad— for his glory and our ultimate good. Every promise is “Yes and Amen!” through Jesus Christ.

Second Corinthians says we are part of God’s story. God uses every detail of our lives— painful and pleasant, planned and unplanned— for his glory and our ultimate good. We are ambassadors of that glory— we carry the light of Jesus as an offering to God and a testimony to the world. Our pain, our success, our marriage, our singleness, our career, our finances, our parenting, our legacy… all on purpose for God.

From Genesis to Revelation, the theology of Sabbath rest unfolds to reveal an incredible truth. When we come to know Jesus, we enter into true rest. 

Work harder! Rest more! There is a kind of weariness that goes beyond mere physical tiredness. What is at the heart of this constant restlessness? By seeking Christ and his kingdom, we can find rest for our souls. 

From the beginning, God designed our work and rest as a meaningful way to reflect his glory and goodness. 

God describes Himself as “faithful to 1000 generations.” God has been faith, is faithful, and will be faithful. What role do we play in communicating the faithfulness of God to the next generation? 

God describes Himself as “abounding in steadfast love.” God will sweep us off our feet with His love. He has loved us, not because of who we are, but because of who He is. 

God describes Himself as “slow to anger.” Is it wrong for a father to show anger? Could it be that we’ve misunderstood God because we’ve misunderstood anger? 

God describes Himself as gracious. We are surprised by grace! Through Jesus He has given us grace and shown us how to live graciously. God’s grace is on offer today!
