Phil Wise, former New York Jets safety, passed away at 76. He played 6 seasons with the Jets (1971-1976), appearing in 62 games and starting 37. Wise grabbed 3 interceptions, recovered 7 fumbles, including an 80-yard TD return. He also handled kick returns and blocked a punt as a rookie. After the Jets, he played 3 seasons with the Vikings. Wise spent 18 years in sports radio in Minneapolis, known as a loyal friend and great man.
