Show Notes
Staff Sergeant Michael Ollis, a Staten Island native, posthumously received the Medal of Honor for shielding a wounded Polish officer from a suicide bomber during a 2013 attack on Forward Operating Base Ghazni in Afghanistan. Ollis, a twenty-four-year-old infantryman with the Tenth Mountain Division, sacrificed his life to save the officer, demonstrating extraordinary courage and selflessness. The Polish officer, who named his son after Ollis, and family members joined White House officials for the ceremony, where President Trump highlighted Olliss bravery.
