Our Experiences Shape Our Perception

My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad 

Matthew 7:9 What man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?  11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!


#1 Approach God Like A Child Approaches A Good Father 

Matthew 18:2-3 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” 

Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” 

1 John 4:4 Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind]. 

#2 Approach Fatherhood With God As Your Example 

You’re either building a bridge or you’re building a barrier.

He is loving - John 3:16 

He is caring - I Peter 5:7 

He is committed - Hebrews 14:5

He is focused - Romans 8:35 “

He is engaged - Hebrews 12:5–6 

He is Gracious - Psalm 86:5

He is good - Jeremiah 29:11 

He is a disciplinarian - Hebrews 12:6 

He is generous - Psalm 84:11 

He is approachable – Psalm 138:3
