Galatians 5:22-23 NLT
John 15:4–5 “Live in me. Make your home in me just as I do in you. In the same way that a branch can’t bear fruit by itself but only by being joined to the vine, you can’t bear fruit unless you are joined with me. “I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.
Galatians 5:22
Worldly Love Says:
Love Is About Feelings
Love Is About Getting
Godly Love Says:
Love Is About Choices
Love Is About Giving
Colossians 1:15 The Son is the image of the invisible God
John 14:8-10 Have I been so long with you, and yet you still have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how do you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me?"
Jesus was and is God spelling out His love in a language that people can understand.
AGAPE.
Agape - Unconditional love that is always giving and impossible to take or be a taker. It devotes total commitment to seek your highest and best no matter how anyone may respond. This form of love is totally selfless and does not change whether the love given is returned or not.
“The biblical concept of agape love involves giving of yourself for the benefit of another, even at your own expense. Biblical love is defined by passionately and righteously seeking the well-being of another. Biblical love is an act of the will and not just a fuzzy feeling in the stomach. That’s why God can command us to love one another. Love really has nothing to do with whether you feel loving at a particular moment. It has to do with the need of the person being loved, not the feelings of the one doing the loving.” - Tony Evans
John 13:34 Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.
Jesus’ Love Was & Is Unconditional
John 15:16-17 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.
God Chose Me So I Choose You!
God based His love for you on Him, so you base your love for them on God.
Jesus’ Love Was & Is Truthful
"Our love grows soft if it is not strengthened by truth, and our truth grows hard if it is not softened by love." - John Stott.
When we love like Jesus with this Agape love, we have to be prepared to sometimes be seen as unloving.
Proverbs 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
Jesus’ Love Was Sacrificial
Talk is cheap, Love has feet.
Romans 5:8 God demonstrated his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
