Show Notes

Construction of an $84.5 million express shuttle connector road at Louis Armstrong International Airport in Kenner is underway, funded by the Federal Aviation Administration. This project will significantly reduce shuttle travel time from 18 minutes to 7 minutes, benefiting the 9,000 daily passengers. Phase one, set to complete later this year, will allow shuttles to bypass traffic lights on Veterans Boulevard, easing congestion. Phase two, expected to finish by 2027, will cover the southern area near the old terminal and Airline Highway. The airport also plans to upgrade facilities, including a new concourse with 15 gates by 2031, runway repaving, better baggage handling, and additional parking lots. The city of Kenner, with federal help, secured $8.02 million for sewer and water upgrades to handle increased demand from airport growth. The airport and city will continue to collaborate for future expansions.
