Show Notes
This episode is Part 2 of a two-part deep dive into recycling, sustainability, and integrating zero-waste policies into our everyday lives. Brian Coughlin, Superintendent of Waste Reduction at Boston Public Works, chats with Nichole about the City of Boston’s recycling process, and how residents can make it a more successful venture. Brian also has details about the city’s efforts to move toward a zero-waste society, and the Hub’s new Curbside Textile Collection program, which allows residents to send their unwanted clothes, bedding, curtains, and other textiles to be upcycled and resold without having to head to a dropoff point. Aubrey Conquergood, Executive Director of Cradles to Crayons, and Erin Rafferty, CEO of Wonderfund, join Nichole to talk about this year’s Bruins PJ drive. They’re working together with the Boston bruins and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners to gather new pajamas for kids living in foster care, low-income, and homeless situations.
