Dr Subramani's interest in morality and ethics has led her to explore morality, behaviour, and ethics in healthcare contexts. She has worked on the concepts of belonging, micro-inequitiesmoral habitus, the idea of the passive patient, the social construction of incompetency, and reflexivity.

They discuss caste and contemporary music, resistance and poetry, and autonomy and participatory theatre.
