爸爸媽媽給孩子的零用錢最常見的翻譯有allowance或是pocket money。 但如要區分兩者，allowance指的比較是用在固定時間給的零用錢，而且是美式英語的用法，for example, the mother gave her daughter a weekly allowance of $60. 媽媽給女生每星期60元。 而pocket money則是比較英式的說法，同樣也有零用錢的意思，那如果要表示 "我想要把我的零用錢存下來"則可以說I want to save my pocket money.
