Binti在斯瓦希里語中意指「女孩」，帶有對女孩深切的照護之意。2015 年，創辦人 - 楊怡庭（Elle Yang）在非洲志工行動中，親眼目睹女孩因無法購買衛生棉而被迫停學，甚至染病失學。這深深震撼了Elle，她決定不僅提供資源，更要教女孩「自己做」— 不再依賴，不再沉默。
