What A Narcissist Wants When You Go No Contact

However, as the reality of their lost influence sets in, they resort to a series of manipulative tactics. These tactics include a superficial charm offensive designed to evoke nostalgia and doubt, offering false promises of closure as bait, and engaging in a “best life charade” on social media to provoke a reaction. As these strategies prove ineffective, the narcissist may resort to silent sabotage, spreading rumors and playing the victim to isolate their former partner. They may also employ guilt trips and emotional blackmail, preying on their former partner's empathy to regain control. Finally, if all else fails, the narcissist may launch a full-blown smear campaign, attempting to destroy their former partner’s reputation. The episode emphasizes that these manipulative tactics are all part of the narcissist’s desperate attempt to regain power and control.
