Dasakam 062 - Sloka 03

इति श्रुत्वा वाचं पितुरयि भवानाह सरसं धिगेतन्नो सत्यं मघवजनिता वृष्टिरिति यत् । अदृष्टं जीवानां सृजति खलु वृष्टिं समुचितां महारण्ये वृक्षा: किमिव बलिमिन्द्राय ददते ॥३॥

इति श्रुत्वाthis hearingवाचं पितु:-words of fatherअयि भवान्-आहO Thou saidसरसं(with) reasoningधिक्-एतत्-नो सत्यंoh this is not trueमघव-जनिताby Indra (is) generatedवृष्टि:-इति यत्rain, to say soअदृष्टं जीवानांunseen (past actions) of the living beingsसृजति खलुgenerates indeedवृष्टिं समुचितांthe rain requiredमहा-अरण्येin the big forestवृक्षा: किम्-इवthe trees what likeबलिम्-इन्द्रायofferings for Indraददते(do) give?

O Lord! Hearing this, Thou said with sweet reasoning, 'Oh no, this is not true, to say that the rain is generated by Indra. Rain is generated by the unseen past actions of the living beings, as required. In this big forest, what kind of offerings do the trees give to Indra?'
