Coming from a very artistic and productive family, they all pitched in to make the game a success.Marcus and Chris (last week’s guest) make gaming videos, too, on Can We Games.Oh! Ep 47#047 - Creating w/ Chris Yee
Chris is a fellow podcaster with whom I’ve been in touch with for about 6 months - so I’ve been looking forward to this episode! Not only does Chris host one of my favourite podcasts, he also writes novels (pretty good ones, too). Believe it or not, he actually hated writing in school; which he says is because school writing wasn’t fun. With a zillion other projects in the back of his mind, you’ll probably be hearing about him for years to come - in a few different industries, too. Did we mention he’s an engineer?Check out his website, Nerdchomp, where he keeps all of his creative projects! Ep 44#044 - Be A Visionary w/ Rob Ahrendsen
“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined.” - Henry David ThoreauRob has lived a life held up by challenges, rather than bogged down by them. Growing up on a farm, with a blended family, Rob learned about hard work and good values. (We spend a good portion of this podcast with me just figuring out who’s related to who and how - family am I right??)Rob describes himself as the peacemaker in the family, and I can see how he fits that spot. He’s always there to make sure things are rolling well. In any conversation, you’ll be able to appreciate how open-minded Rob is and how willing he is to understand another point of view.Remember, after the show, to take time out of your day to listen to someone else. Ep 42#042 - Making Decisions w/ Angela Talley
Angela was born in Indiana, her family lives in Texas, she lives in Idaho, and she call New Mexico home. Obviously, she’s American, but there’s so much more to her life and personality. We talk a lot about how she came to be in Idaho for school. Big decisions take a long time, not just to make the decision, but just getting to that place where you can make that decision. We also talk about International Studies, Theatre, Asia, and all the opportunities before her!Oh! And the cheetah is her favourite because she stole it from her brother. (She writes, too.)Remember, after the show, to take time out of your day to listen to someone else. Just 5 minutes. Ep 41#041 - "That's Someone's Child" w/ Rachael Erasmus
Rachael was born in Manchester, England and moved to Calgary at 4 months old! And I’m glad she did. She’s been one of my best friends for years! It was great sitting down with Rachael, because, like many people I know, I think I know her really well! Turns out, there’s always more to learn about your friends. In this episode of “My Wax Museum,” Rachael shares how she overcame homesickness on her 18 month mission in France and how you can teach someone who doesn’t care much for learning. At the end of the episode, she shares some stories of different lessons her parents taught her.Remember, after the show, to take time out of your day to listen to someone else. Just 5 minutes. Ep 40#040 - Good Influences w/ Jeff Painaga
I can’t say enough good things about Jeff. He’s got so much going for him. When we met, I was an outsider and he welcomed me in.This episode focuses on friendships and good influences who have changed his life for the better. He highlights a family friend, a priest in the Catholic Church, who had a particularly positive impact on him and has inspired him to live a life of service.Remember, after the show, to take time out of your day to listen to someone else. Ep 39#039 - An Important Conversation on Depression w/ Cindy Russell
This has to be one of my favourites. I know, I know. I could say that about every episode, but this one is special.Cindy is one of those people who you can’t help but feel comfortable opening up to. I have talked Cindy’s ear off on a zillion different occasions, so I thought it was high time I sit down and listen for a solid hour. Our conversation shares a little bit about Cindy’s life growing up, but ultimately veers into a beautiful discussion about depression and mental health. While I edit, I take little notes on this episode focuses on. This one was tough… We talk about feeling like damaged goods, the toll of depression on ourselves and on relationships, the importance of reaching out, why we want to resolve conflicts with people, and well… everything else.I really believe this is a conversation anyone would benefit from listening to.Even more, though, I believe everyone ought to take time out of their day to listen to those around you. Find 5 minutes, today, to listen. Just listen.Follow us on Instagram and check out more of what we do at www.knightworthy.comThanks again for listening! Ep 43#043 - Who Loretta Can Be w/ Loretta Kumire
Chances are, you weren’t born in Zimbabwe, haven’t lived in South Africa, England, and the US. Loretta has! The craziest part? Like most of the people I’ve interviewed, she sees her life as normal.Loretta shares the story of growing up in Zimbabwe, under the roof of a single mother who encouraged her to discover, explore, and grow. It’s not just Loretta’s mother who was like this, but her grandmother, too! Exploring, discovering, trying, growing, changing, and doing seems to be heredity in Loretta’s family. She’s currently studying communications at BYU-Idaho and has been put in charge of developing a podcast where they interview alumni to inspire students to overcome trials, embrace challenges, and realise their potential. The podcast won’t be starting until Fall semestre, but she and I got together for some podcast coaching. (Loretta even helped edit this episode.)Anyway! Enjoy these stories and get ready for more. Thanks for listening!Take 5 minutes today to listen to a friend and make the world a better place!Follow us on Instagram and check out more of what we do at www.knightworthy.comThanks again for listening! Ep 38#038 - Giving w/ Luke Vorwald
Luke has spent his whole life in Iowa - usually in Dubuque. Which, can we just take a second to appreciate how many U’s Dubuque has?! Luke shares what his experience was growing up in a small town and all the fun that came with it. After growing up dealing with alcoholism in his family and major depression, he felt a pull toward psychology where he learned a variety of ways to to help people and support them. You’ll see that a lot in this episode.Check Luke out here: https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-km2jr-8354a1Thanks for listening!Take 5 minutes today to listen to a friend and make the world a better place!Follow us on Instagram and check out more of what we do at www.knightworthy.comThanks again for listening! Ep 37#037 - Bullies, Colour Guard, & Family w/ Taylor Ealand
Taylor has had experiences far different than my own. He was born in Florida and raised in California. He grew up in a working class family and has always had the desire to go further with his life. Like many of my guests, Taylor’s number one priority is family. He wants to be able to look back on his life and be able to say he gave his children a better life than what he had. Certainly it’s not uncommon to work so your posterity can be better of than you, but it’s always a nice reminder.Part of Taylor’s exploration into himself and the ideas surrounding him is his podcast, Just Think. It’s a great show that delves into many questions! Ep 36#036 - Making a Difference w/ Robert Falconer
In this episode, there are a lot of interesting little details that we could have followed down more rabbit holes, but of course, we don’t have all the time in the world. What we did talk about, though, was Rob growing up in British Columbia, moving to Lethbridge, to Arizona, to Toronto, and finally to Calgary! Robert considered medicine after graduating from the U of T, but decided to do a Masters of Public Policy at the University of Calgary. Thanks for listening!Take 5 minutes today to listen to a friend and make the world a better place!Follow us on Instagram and check out more of what we do at www.knightworthy.comThanks again for listening! Ep 35#035 - Growing Up w/ Jack C. Davis
“I said, ‘Man, we need another hug.’”Jack is one of the most real and heartfelt people I know.In this episode, he talks about growing up fast and becoming the little man of the house after his parents split up. He also shares what it’s been like to set his pride aside and do things the way other people want to do them (finding that his way isn’t the only way).Although Jack is generally happy, he talks about being real with his emotions and hiding them. He’s a stand up guy and I’m thrilled to bring this conversation to you.Take 5 minutes today to listen to a friend and make the world a better place!Follow us on Instagram and check out more of what we do at www.knightworthy.comThanks again for listening! Ep 34#034 - And I Just Kept Reading w/ Alandra Williams
"I switched because I was struggling to learn both French and English at the same time."Alandra Williams starts season three sharing the story of why she switched out of French immersion. She goes on to tell me about how she found her love of reading, writing, and teaching. This was an especially interesting episode for me to record... I've known Alandra my whole life - seeing as she's my sister - but I was still amazed at how much I didn't understand her! Doing this show, over and over again, teaches me how much we don't understand other people. Take some time out of your day to sit and listen.
