Today's featured guest is Kota Teratani. Kota is a developer from Kobe, Japan. S7 Ep 153At 35, Still Finding My Feet with Stuttering—A Positive Journey

Today's featured guest is Andrea Navarra. Andrea Navarra is a 35-year-old Italian living in Malta. He holds a BSc in Nursing from Rome and an MSc in Green Economy from Bournemouth University, where he specialized in carbon management, renewable energy, and environmental law. He began his professional journey in healthcare as a nurse (2014–2021) before transitioning into environmental sustainability and occupational health and safety. He currently works as an EHS Manager. Outside of work, Andrea enjoys cycling, trekking, photography, scuba diving, and indulging in good music, movies, and great food. Andrea first remembers stuttering around age 7 or 8, when his mother took him for a speech assessment and he began speech therapy. Around age 9 or 10, he also tried autogenic training, a relaxation technique. At 18, he joined a therapy group led by someone who promoted his method on Italian TV, spending a couple of weeks in Rome practicing an approach based on acting speech models. While he isn't sure he fully adopted that method, the experience gave him confidence and strength. Even though he still stuttered, it didn't bother him much until he was 28. Around that time, stuttering became a significant challenge again. Andrea isn't sure of the exact reason, though many suggest adult responsibilities can cause stuttering to return or feel more troublesome. He tried adapting the Italian technique to other languages without success. Later, while in the Netherlands, he underwent another therapy that combined speech therapy with psychological training focused on stuttering, but he didn't find it helpful. Since then, Andrea has continued learning by listening to podcasts, reading, and engaging with the stuttering community. He's discovered there are many different techniques and approaches, and while he may explore another path in the future, for now he is still finding his way in managing his stutter. I truly believe that there is healing in sharing, and I want to thank Andrea for sharing his story with me today. S6 Ep 141Fighting To Speak: Rugby, Rage & Redemption

Today's featured guest is Mark Jones. Mark Jones was a talented and ferocious dual-code rugby player who was tormented by a debilitating stammer. During a professional career that spanned 22 years he was capped 15 times for Wales, 11 times for Wales RL and once by Great Britain RL. One of the acknowledged 'bad-boys' of the sport, he was sent off six times and banned for over 33 weeks for violent conduct. His on-field brutality was a direct consequence of the off-field frustration and self-loathing caused by his stammer. Mark now acknowledges that he was internalizing an explosive hate that only playing rugby could release. Mark received counselling and constructive help rather than condemnation for his unacceptable behavior and along with a program of speech therapy provided by his friends and mentors, all this has helped him turn his life around. "I have learnt to control my stammer and have stopped my stammer controlling me. Anyone who has suffered from a stammer will know of the humiliation and low self-esteem it creates. Thankfully, I have now found a way to live my life free from its grip and I hope that my honesty and insight will help others experiencing the same torment." I believe that there is healing in sharing, and I want to thank Mark for sharing his story with me today. S5 Ep 132My Journey From PWS To PWSS

Today's featured guest is Danny Miguel. Danny is 34 years old and lives in Connecticut. He states, "I started stuttering surprisingly at 18 which is kind of odd since most stutterers develop stuttering during their adolescent years. I became a situational stutterer, often long pauses and struggled with it for 15 years until I found a program and book late last year. After 2-3 months of diligently immersing myself in the author's methods, I overcame my stutter which brings me here to discuss a little bit more about the book and program". When asked if speech therapy helped during that time period, he stated, "I only attended speech therapy in 2019 (February-August) Never found it to be helpful, but the book and program helped me a lot in just a month or two. I started earlier this year with the book and found success after 2-3 months where I could no longer be a detectable stutterer. Hear this journey of a PWS (Person Who Stutters) become a PWSS (Person Who Stopped Stuttering) through the use of a book and program that's changing lives throughout the world". I believe that there is healing in sharing, and I want to thank Danny for sharing his story with me today.
