Joyce Bergsma – More Than Just The Blues
Such an important topic and when you hear the statistics that Joyce shares in this interview its truly so strange that we don’t talk about it more. The Blues, Depression….. We need to talk about it and we also need to know that there ARE solutions. Joyce shares so much wisdom and even better … she shares HOPE on this cast, I am truly feeling honoured to host such a show, and that we can get this message out to the masses that help is available and healing is possible and that it happens. Enjoy the Episode! x Kaz Joyce Bergsma Bio: Joyce Bergsma is a registered Nutritional Therapist, practicing Orthomolecular and Functional Medicine since 2010. Joyce has a BA from Canada and later trained as a Nutritional Therapist in the UK. Her interest is on how food affects mental health and she is an advocate for approachable change for her clients. Before studying nutrition, Joyce worked for the largest private health insurer in the UK. Since moving to the Netherlands, she’s focussed on where food comes from and how it can be used to best promote our mental health. Growing up in Canada, the kitchen was the centre of Joyce’s family home. Her mother taught her how to cook from an early age with the vegetables from their garden. As she got older, she noticed how food affected her mood, energy levels, digestion and stress levels. When several people close to her started developing serious health problems, she felt there was a connection between the illnesses and their diets. Would a healthier diet create a healthier life? This interest led Joyce to study nutrition in the UK, where she learned to identify the connections between the systems of the body. She found out how diet, exercise, our environment and genetics affect whether diseases develop or not. Joyce’s interest in preventing the same depression her close family suffer from inspired her to learn how mental health could be influenced by nutrient therapy. Understanding the challenges of adjusting our lifestyles in a consumer society, she is keen to motivate others in making practical changes that enable their bodies to heal themselves. Change is difficult, there’s no two ways about it. Joyce works to break down the different factors that contribute to mental health into bite-sized pieces so each step is manageable. We all have busy lives, but making change just happens one step at a time. Joyce is currently working on developing the Happiness Hub, a place to connect and learn about being mentally healthier. She also offers personal consultations and runs workshops for private groups on Stress Management and Fermenting Foods. You can book online at www.eatlivelovefood.com. I know that you have been waiting for me to an episode on Diastasis Recti and for thoset hat ahven’t I know that you will be grateful with this epsidoe too seeing as you will wnat to echck yourselves for it and it also might answer some unanswered questions about your post -partum body. Becky was a joy to interview, she has a relaxing voice to listen to, an amazing accent that I LOVE and also so much wisdom to share on the topic. Enjoy the Episode and see you back here next episode. X Kaz Becky Spellman Bio: I was born in Liverpool in 1975 & because of a turned in left foot, was sent to ballet class at the age of 3 by our family doctor. 10 years of ballet school followed & I was lucky enough to have worked as a ballet dancer from when I was 19 until I retired at 30 when I had my daughter. As a dancer I had always done Pilates, it was part of our curriculum at school (my teacher was Alan Herdman) & later in the companies I danced in, Pilates was part of our daily routine. Admittedly I didn’t like it but if I wanted to keep my body healthy & able to stand up to the demands of dancing 8 shows a week whilst touring, it was something I would have to do. After retiring in 2006, I retrained as a Pilates teacher under the tutelage of Debbie Jenner & Suus Wilms in Amsterdam. It took a year to do the full comprehensive program & I was selected to work in Debbie’s studio allowing me to clock up my apprentice hours & learn from watching the more experienced teachers there. 3 years later I was accepted onto the 2 year Master Mentor Program under Lolita San Miguel in NYC.. The opportunity to learn from her was amazing and changed my perspective of what is possible with the help of Pilates. I graduated in 2011, making me one of only two Lolita trained teachers in the Netherlands & later that year opened my own studio. As I began to study and explore the possibilities of the Pilates method I started to work with two really talented physiotherapists from Amsterdam, Joep Kamphuis & Roan Vierhout. They would refer their patients to me with a “wish list” for their patient’s rehab. I delved into the traditional work that I had been trained in by Lolita to find solutions and then taught it to our clients. Not only was this in itself exciting to do, but we noticed that our patients were recovering much faster than we had expected through their combined physiotherapy and Pilates programs. After working so closely with the physiotherapists, i realised that i want to deepen my knowledge of the human body in order to become a better Pilates teacher. As of September 2016, i will be studying two days a week for my Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy at Thim van der Laan School of Physiotherapy in Nieuwegein, Utrecht. MUM 071: Nurturing Us Midwives Karen & Agnele – Epigenetics and Pregnancy

Enjoy the wisdom from Karen and Agnele. x Kaz Agnele and Karen Bio We are two midwives and two mothers and jointly co-founded Nurturing Us. Together we want to empower women to approach their pregnancy with openness, clarity and knowledge about the connection with their baby before birth. We want to inspire women to believe they can make a real difference to the health and emotional wellbeing of their child’s future. The emerging research of epigenetics and peri-natal psychology clearly demonstrates that gratitude, love and connection to yourself as a pregnant woman and with your baby can make a real difference Together we have gathered the evidence to date and developed a holistic, integrative, collaborative and complimentary approach to empowering confidence in pre-conception and pregnancy. MUM 069: Susi Hately : Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation for C-section & Vaginal Deliveries
Susi Hately’s Bio: B.Sc Kinesiology, Yoga Teacher, Yoga Therapist Since 1993, Susi Hately has grown from teaching one or two musicians how to stay pain free while playing their instruments, to becoming a highly credible and reliable source for understanding and successfully using therapeutic yoga to enable people to get out of pain and back to the life they want to live – at home, work and play. Her Signature Style of Yoga Therapy combines principles of anatomy and physiology with the ancient art of yoga asanas, breathing, pranayama, stillness and meditation. All of her sessions are customized to suit individual needs. She started teaching this way back in 2001 because not every person with back pain or shoulder pain needed the same yoga program. Instead she focused on the person, their anatomy, their movement abilities and their day-to-day lifestyle. . . with a goal to cultivate better body balance. Today she teaches people who have back pain, shoulder pain, frozen shoulders, repetitive strain injury, and osteoarthritis; people going through chemotherapy, and people who are recovering from cancer treatment; people with neck pain, knee pain, and people rehabilitating from surgery; people with MS; Lou Gehrig’s, as well as people with anxiety, and depression. Clients come from all walks of life – executives, parents, retirees, elite athletes, Olympians, school teachers, dentists, doctors, massage therapists, chiropractors, yoga teachers and more – but the common thing that brings them is always the same, initially – their pain, fatigue or tension is getting in the way of the life they want to live. In 2001, she started to teach teachers the anatomy principles she uses in her classes each day. They had ah-ha moments in their own bodies as well as ah-ha moments with their students – there was less pain, more ease, and a greater feeling of lightness and strength. In 2004, she began to train teachers more specifically in therapeutic yoga, and in 2007 she launched what is now called the Therapeutic Yoga Intensive. Over these 5 mind blowing days she teaches the theory and techniques she uses daily with her clients to help them reduce pain, manage long term physiological and systemic issues, recover from surgery and navigate treatment protocols. In 2007, she began Certifying Yoga Teachers to become Yoga Therapists. Her Yoga Therapy Program is now one of a few IAYT Accredited Programs based in Canada, and is catered to yoga teachers who want to blending the modern with the ancient, who have tried what she has taught and sees the positive impact in their own practice, as well as in the practices of their students and who want to take their knowledge deeper; who want to flourish as therapeutic yoga teachers, and become really good at what they do. Susi has much experience in this world of improving movement and reducing pain and she wants to share it with people who are serious about their development and growth. MUM 066: “Best of” #10- Julie Tenner- Finding Your Desire
Definitely one of my fave episodes to date. Julie is so eloquent, she shares so deeply, she is so so wise and I feel blessed to be able to bring you this episode. Its a goodie! You will have tingles. Enjoy!! X Kaz Julie Tenner’s Bio Julie Tenner, The Pleasure Nutritionist and co-founder of Nourishing the Mother and mother of three is a Naturopath, specialising in women’s health, Birth Coach and Mothering Mentor on a mission to reconnect women to their pleasure and nourish so much more than just their bodies. Frustrated with the paradigm of health and nutrition which sees women berate themselves for breaking their ‘food rules’, Julie’s approach looks beyond the nutrient impact of food to look at our beliefs, conditioning and uncover what it is that truly moves us as women, giving us to permission to receive, nourish and inspire – creating a ripple effect in our families and out into our communities. When women say “yes” to themselves, they pave the way for those around them. When women awaken their sensuality, when they feel deliciously connected to who they are, when pleasure becomes part of them, not separate to them – they become a beacon for desire and magnificence. Birth Plans, Hospital Preferences I was so thrilled to have Pip from Birth Savvy on the cast who is amazingly passionate about birth, outcomes, people knowing their options and asking for what they want. So very often discussed but never is there really a “what to avoid” or a “where to look”…. here are some tips to consider for your birth plan. She launched “Birth Savvy – Ask for What You Want” in early 2013 which promotes Better Birthing through education. Workshops are held throughout WA and focus on helping parents get the birthing experience they deserve through increasing their confidence and knowledge and promoting an equal partnership with their obstetricians. MUM 060: “Best of” # 4 Natalie Stokell – Placenta Encapsulation and Postnatal Recovery
We certainly couldn’t have a “best of” from the podcast series and not share this popular episode. Possibly a taboo topic for some, yet eye-opening, and enlightening for others I am really excited to hear what you all think of this topic and this option for post natal recovery. It s a must listen to episode. Get past the ick factor Natalie is definitely an expert in all things placenta but as you will hear on the episode, as a vegetarian, it’s not something she ever thought she’d do, let alone prepare placentas or others! She saw the results for herself when comparing the postnatal periods following both her children, where with placentophagy she had less bleeding, less baby blues and the rest she shares as we talk all things placentas. I know you will love this episode, whether it’s your thing or not. So please do share this week’s episode and it’s links/resources with those pregnant women around you. It’s such an important topic and this information needs to get out! Let me know what you think and join the conversation over with us on facebook. NATALIE’S BIO Originally from New Zealand, after completing her Masters in Psychology Natalie moved to the UK. She spent the next 10 years working, playing and volunteering in different countries including England, Turkey, Nepal and Central America. Much of her work was with women and children. In 2009 she had her first child, and left the UK to move with her partner to Australia. Natalie discovered the benefits Placenta Encapsulation after the birth of her second daughter. Her recovery the this time round was very different from the first time and she puts it down to the capsules. Her energy levels were high, she didn’t feel emotional or weepy (except on the couple of days that she missed her capsules), and her physical recovery was much faster. So she went on to learn as much as she could about this amazing – albeit a little weird – tradition. She trained firstly with Placenta Benefits and then with the Association of Placenta Preparation Arts. She now offers safe, certified and insured Placenta services on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. She is a proud verified member of Placenta Services Australia and also serves on their Board. She is passionate about keeping Placenta Encapsulation safe and to very high industry standards in Australia. MUM 059: “Best of” #3 Mandy Adno – Fussy Eaters, Baby’s First Foods, Gag Reflexes & More
Since this episode was released I’ve had so many mums tell me how helpful the information was. Seeing as Mandy is so passionate and is a wealth of knowledge on the topic of fussy foods, dysphagia and fussy eaters this episode just had to be included in the Best of Series. Mandy also shares her wisdom around oral development and how it relates to speech and sensory development which is something that I also share with my mum’s in practice. It’s a “must listen to” episode where we talk about…. when and how to introduce first foods, why kids might be fussy with food, what to do about it, clear signs for when to seek help and there are so many fabulous links and resources that Mandy shares in this episode. I do my best to find passionate experts but honestly, Mandy had so much passion for what she does that it was such a joy to have her share on Mum’s The Word. Because it was full of gold, the episode runs over my (suggested) 40 mins – well let’s be honest, most of them have so far!! as clearly my guests are so passionate about helping other mums and its obvious we all love what we do. Please do share this episode and it’s links/resources with those around you struggling to get their little ones to eat or enjoy food. Its such an important topic and this episode highlights once again, that we are all in this parenting world together. It truly takes a village to raise a child so please don’t keep these pearls of wisdom to yourself but share it with the new mum’s in your circles. ENJOY !! MUM 057: “Best of” #1 Jacky Bloemraad de Boer – Keeping Birth Normal with Midwife Led Birth
In this first of the “Best Of” Series which is a mix of my personal favorites and the top downloaded episodes of all time since Mum’s The Word launched back in Dec 2015, I’m lucky enough to interview Jacky Bloemraad de Boer, my midwife for both of my children’s births! She is a woman of wisdom and has immersed herself in all things Birth for decades. I am so thrilled that I was able to have her share with the Mum’s The Word listeners and be my inaugral guest. Its still a fave episode of mine. We discuss in this episode; The role of a Midwife The benefits of a midwife led birth Midwife mindset De-medicalizing Birth Research around home birth and natural birth Jacky Bloemraad de Boer is a mother, a wife, CPM (Certified Professional Midwife), a Doula, a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, a Nutritionist, Herbalist & a Doula Trainer. She lives in both Amsterdam and Cape Town. Jacky is passionate about fertility, pregnancy, childbirth and women’s health and is continually exploring the various aspects of global maternal health and in particular midwifery care and the continuum of care. Midwifery care can improve maternal outcomes because experience and research has clearly shown that pregnancy and childbirth care which has been de-medicalized and restores dignity and humanity to the process of childbirth by returning the control to the birthing woman has proven to be the safest approach. Jacky is dedicated to educating midwives, the world needs more midwives and as Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Jacky has also published a book: A-Z for a Healthy Pregnancy and Natural Childbirth, “My top priority is for people to understand that they have the power to change things themselves.” ~ Aung San Suu Kyi “The education and empowerment of women throughout the world cannot fail to result in a more caring, tolerant, just and peaceful life for all.” ~ Aung San Suu Kyi A healthy woman who labours and births spontaneously performs a job that cannot be improved upon. ~ Sarah Buckley Jacky’s book: A-Z for a Healthy Pregnancy and Natural Childbirth The post MUM 057: “Best of” #1 Jacky Bloemraad de Boer – Keeping Birth Normal with Midwife Led Birth appeared first on The Wellness Couch.

MUM 056: Dana Lindzon : The Sacredness of Birth
After trying to get Dana on for a while, finally our diaries collided as we got to hear her insight on the sacredness of birth. We talk empowered women, placentas, crossing over tot hat mystical realm in birth and so much more. I am grateful for the work she does, the insight she has and that she was able to share with us. Enjoy. Kaz xx Dana Lindzon Bio: I am a Canadian Born Mother of 3 daughters. I originally moved to Holland in 1999 to continue my advanced studies at the Art Academy in Amsterdam- The Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Art and creativity were always at the centre of my life since my earliest days but when I became pregnant with my first daughter in 2005, the focus of my life was forever transformed. Nothing I’ve experienced so far was as remarkable or exciting as this first journey through pregnancy, the indescribable wild intensity of giving birth for the first time and then of course becoming a mother, a mother!!!! This to me was true creation, and I couldn’t wait to go through it again. A real shift for me came in 2008 when I gave birth to my second daughter. My first daughter was born in a hospital. It was a positive experience, so we did not really think about our options and were planning on returning for the second birth as well. As things turned out, this second birth progressed so quickly, and so effortlessly, that there was no choice actually but to birth at home. I was given this huge gift that I had previously no real idea about, and had an amazing, life changing home birth experience. After this birth I felt like shouting from every rooftop: DO YOU KNOW WHAT BIRTH CAN BE LIKE!!!!! I was drawn to every pregnant woman I saw and was on a mission to understand and share with women (any woman who would listen) what an incredibly positive, joyous, transformative experience birth can be. This was a defining moment in my life and the moment in which I feel that I truly became a doula. Since that birth I have been immersed in educating myself in everything I could find about birth, sifting through the current predominant disempowering beliefs and fears and getting to the roots of the transformative, empowering and sacred aspects of birth as mother nature intended, and which I have come to understand, is our birth-right as women. There was no turning back. My 3rd daughter was born in 2011, this time it was a planned home birth. It has been a totally unexpected blessing to be able to support women in childbirth. I am now, besides being the proud, active mother to my 3 school aged children, a full time certified doula and birth coach, and an active presence in the Birth Community hosting workshops, events and gatherings on a regular basis for pregnant women, new mothers, women preparing for pregnancy and birth professionals in Amsterdam. We thought it wold be good to discuss the “comparison epidemic” and so here it is. Enjoy the episode. X Kaz Dr Alison Young: Bio Dr. Alison Young is a mum and Chiropractor. She began practicing in 2003 in a family practice, and her desire to help her children patients more, especially those with special needs, drove her to complete her Masters in Chiropractic Pediatrics. Along her journey she went from being an associate chiropractor to being an owner of a practice in Palmyra (Western Australia), and in that time having a predominantly kids and family focused practice. She eventually sold this practice to move overseas with her husband, and in this time became a mum for the first time. Since then she has had a second child, and is currently residing in South Korea. She has a strong passion to help chiropractors be their best when working with families, which prompted her to create INNATE Child, a coaching and webinar based learning program that helps chiropractors to learn more about working with children, and to set up their practices and develop their teams to be more family focused. Alison has been a board member of the Western Australian Chiropractors Registration Board (until it joined with AHPRA), and executive member of the Chiropractors Association of Australia (WA Branch). She has spoken at conferences around Australia and has run her own conference “Empowering Chiropractic Families” for Chiropractors and their teams in 2016. On her journey as a mum, both as an expat and in Australia, she has become increasingly aware of the role that mum’s can play as supporters and nourishers of other mums. There is nothing like a good cup of tea, and a chat to help another mum feel that she isn’t too alone. All too many times she has seen the ‘comparison’ of one child to another lead to greater stress and anxiety for the mums and families concerned. She strongly feels that we need to compare less, and use our motherly intuition, quality healthcare providers and develop strong ‘village-like’ support circles to help each other on our journey. Wow so much wisdom on mothering from this wonderful soul. This was a true interview with heart and it was a real honour to have fellow Wellness Couch Podcaster Bridget Wood. You can find more of her gold on Nourishing The Mother with her co-host Julie Tenner who was also on Mum’s the Word recently – a highly recommended interview also. Enjoy! X Kaz Bridget Wood – Bio Bridget Wood is a writer, speaker, event manager and coach with a vision to raise our collective consciousness through her businesses Suburban Sandcastles and Nourishing The Mother. A mother of two, Bridget reflects that many women feel they lose themselves in early motherhood, but ultimately it’s been where she has found herself. MUM 052: Damian Kristof : Stress & cracking the Stress Code.
This week we have our first interview with a guest on the show for a 2nd time. I just had to get Damian back on the show again to share his teachings around stress and how when ongoing, it can lead to anxiety, insomnia and even depression and more importantly also how we can get out of it. It’s once again a high energy episode with a bit of humor between us seeing as we have known each other for 16 years and if you didn’t hear the first (Episode 49) it can be found here which has already had a crazy huge number of downloads and needs to be shared with all mums. Enjoy this episode! X Kaz Dr Damian Kristof Bio: I’ve been in the health industry now for more than 20 years in many different capacities. As a Naturopath, Nutritionist and Chiropractor I have enjoyed helping thousands of people regain health and vitality through natural approaches. I am continually excited and delighted by the life changes that people experience when they start to trust in their own ability to heal without excessive intervention. My path through health has been exciting and varied, and at the same time very challenging and rewarding. I love the ability to interact on a one on one basis daily with my practice members and at the same time, I love the ability to educate and inspire people to change through multi media including Radio (Melbourne’s Triple M), TV (Downsize Me, Inside New Zealand, Brian and Bobby, The Exchange) Podcasting (The Wellness Guys and 100 Not Out) and of course in a seminar setting with The Power Of Food and Crack Your Stress Code events. My belief is that both the nervous system and the gastro-intestinal system are both equally influential in the health and longevity of the individual, this is why I love chiropractic (as it deals with the nervous system) and I developed Forage Cereal (to assist the restoration of impeccable health to the gastrointestinal system). Having combined the philosophies of both Naturopathic and Chiropractic approaches to healing and well-being – I believe that people learn and achieve the most when there is no interference and there is appropriate supply of goodness to allow the body to thrive. Kinta Gitshams’ Bio: Kinta Gitsham an ordinary mum who has had an EXTRA ordinary journey through motherhood. A stay at home mother of 3 gorgeous children; Archie (8), Josie (6) and George (3). She is currently separated from her husband of 10 years Rick since March this year, however they are still an incredible team for the kids, and with time feel things will mend just beautifully. She has pushed through and survived severe PNDA for all three children, recovered from a minor breakdown, helped recover their son Archie, diagnosed from ASD (AUTISM – PDD-NOS), ADHD, ANXIETY, SENSORY PROCESSING DISORDER and suspected but not diagnosed ODD. It’s been quite the journey, through heavy medication for both Kinta and Archie and with Kinta almost giving up on life. Through years of searching and never giving up on hope, she has now found many answers through gut health, which consists of living a chemical free life where we eat real whole nutritious food. Through following her ‘gut intuition’ and addressing the families extensive gut issues and inflammation, they have successfully began a massive recovery and are both off all medication and are really beginning to thrive!! She is now super passionate about spreading this awareness to help as many people as she can to know they are not alone and where to find the help and support so that they too can also begin to thrive. MUM 046: Chris Muller : Aware Parenting
We often forget that our parenting skills are constantly a work in progress. Our own cultures or our childhood experiences and those of our partner all have an impact on how we will raise our children. Whilst there is no one way for everyone, there are certainly some methods that honour the child and the child’s needs more than others. This was a fabulous episode where Chris and I discus the aware parent, based on principles from Aletha Solter’s famous book “the aware baby”. She certainly has the wisdom and experience to help many parents and offers so much sounds advice on the interview. Enjoy X Kaz Chris Muller Bio: Chris Muller, MSc, is a passionate Psychologist and Aware Parenting instructor in The Netherlands. From a young age Chris was interested in the dynamics between parents and children. So what started as a hobby, later became her studies and finally her job. Its her passion to help parents and other caretakers experience more joy and connection with their children and with themselves. Therefore she offers alternatives for time-outs, rewards or sleep training. Instead she offers a deeper understanding of why our children and babies behave a certain way and offers tools on how we can truly connect with them, so we are able to lighten our parenting struggles. The methods she uses are practical and light, as well as profound. I have a degree in Marketing & spent over ten years in the advertising industry at various agencies working in account management & now contract as a social media manager. I’ve been married for nine years to a wonderful man (& father) who’s a game developer & a mother to mother to two children, Orli aged eight (in a few weeks) & Flynn who’s five. Both of our Orli was born, I suffered with severe PND/PPD that saw me being admitted to a parent infant psych facility (nuthouse) when she was eight weeks old & we stayed there for three weeks. Orli & I spent the first year of her life in therapy & at weekly attendances at the nuthouse. My husband & I decided to have another baby when Orli was about 20 months & I ended up having a medically complicated pregnancy where our baby had an 20% chance of survival. I had a bi-partite placenta, placenta previa & vasa previa & gave birth who presented back at hospital being ‘failure to thrive’. We were readmitted to hospital & we remained there for nine weeks where he was diagnosed with Laryngomalacia (floppy airway at the level of the Larynx) & reflux which he’s still being treated for over five years later. MUM 038: Jo Sexton : Tongue Tie
Jo Sexton’s Bio Chiropractor and mum of three, Dr. Jo Sexton, lives and works in the picturesque town of Maleny, 1 ½ hours north of Brisbane. When she is not doing the school run or dropping the kids off at soccer/ ballet, she can be found in her practice; Hinterland Chiropractic. At work, she is a passionate advocate of breastfeeding and has a particular interest in helping those babies and children with tongue tie. Through personal experience she became aware of the impact of tongue tie on babies, their parents (especially the mum’s!) and their families and how difficult it can be to navigate that journey. In her spare time, (HA!) she serves on the board of SOTOA and runs seminars that aim to increase the knowledge of Tongue Tie and its impact amongst Health Professionals. MUM 036: Susanne Grant : Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Childbirth
SUSANNE GRANT’S BIO When Susanne was pregnant, her past experiences of child abuse put her on a different road of care from her team of midwives. Thanks to the hypnobirthing course she did and learning how to work with her own medical team she had her own positive birth experience in May 2014. This birth gave her a new mission in life and she is now working with women all around the world to help them to get their own positive birth experience. Having lived with her PTSD, which was diagnosed at the age of 17, she knows firsthand how challenging this can be. Susanne Grant is a licensed Hypnobirthing Teacher, hypnobirthing mother of little Hannah and founder of Grant Method of Birthing. She has an online Hypnobirthing Course in English, and is about to launch a Dutch version as well. She also teaches group and private classes in person. To help women heal after a challenging birth experience she also developed an online workshop called ‘Healing After Birth’. Some Quotes: Quote I live by: “You’ll have people coming to you saying, ‘I don’t know what it is but something about your belief in me has caused me to rise to a new level and I’m so much happier and so much more productive and so much richer for my relationship with you.’ And some of them will eventually say, ‘What is your secret,’ and the simple answer is, ‘I knew who you really are and focused incessantly upon that until you became it.” “Every time a mother comes to me with her heartbreaking birth story my soul cries out for her and her baby. I will do everything in my power for this world to change the way we treat women during birth.” Susanne Grant “You need to understand that accepting help during birth isn’t failure, you can’t fail if you put your own child and yourself first by accepting help. How this help is given though, can make a difference in whether a mum experiences the birth positive or negative.” Susanne Grant “If a mother doesn’t feel respected, treated with the love, care and privacy she longs for, chances are she will not experience her birth positively.” Susanne Grant Susanne’s Tips/Resources Penny Simkin – When Survivors Give Birth Dr Frank Lawlis – The PTSD Breakthrough Judith Lewis Herman – Trauma and Recovery Mark Harris – Men love and Birth Susanne’s Contact Details Book Intake appointment at: [calendly.com/susannegrant/30min] Website online courses: susannegrant.teachable.com Website local courses: www.grantmethod.com (English) and www.hypnobirthing.tk (Dutch) Facebook Page: Susanne Grant’s – Grant Method of Birthing [facebook.com/GrantMethod/] Twitter [www.twitter.com/grantmethod] Pinterest [uk.pinterest.com/grantmethod/] Instagram [instagram.com/grant_susanne/] LinkedIn [uk.linkedin.com/in/susannegrant] YouTube [youtube.com/channel/UC8gGphCaZe5HABgFyKmB9LA] Email: [email protected] The post MUM 036: Susanne Grant : Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Childbirth appeared first on The Wellness Couch.
