2020年，位在台南市歸仁區的長榮大學，發生了一起慘無人道的性侵命案，一名馬來西亞籍女大生，晚上從學校離開時，竟然在校門口不遠處的台鐵便道，被歹徒強行擄走，慘遭性侵勒斃，命喪他鄉，由於被害人馬來西亞國籍的身分，讓許多馬國國民為被害人打抱不平，國際上也出現了許多質疑台灣治安問題的聲浪
