Truth (2015)
Day 7 of our 12 days of Christmas Journalism is supposed to be informative and shouldn't be afraid of the truth. It's truly sad what it has become. Here we see something that rides the line between sensational journalism and the truth. Original Review: One of the biggest political stories in history turned out to be one of the most controversial. A reporter got a lead on one of the candidates of the 2004 presidential election and decided to run with it. As sources were tracked down, little information was actually known about the validity of the documents in question. The deeper they dug, the more they had a story that they wanted to share. Once it went public, there was no turning back. That is until the information that they had was discredited. Piece by piece it slowly unraveled, leaving those responsible for running the story in the crosshairs of the public. What happened next would change journalism forever. All because of those that wanted to find a story where there wasn't one to be found (or was there). Though the final investigation determined that there wasn't a bias in the hunt for this story, it didn't stop their lives from being forever changed. Come along for this journey, as you see it from both sides. You see the hunger and the reasoning ofᅠthese individuals that chased after this story and you see the network's reaction to what was happening. This was unfolding right in front our eyes and yet we had no idea. This is an amazing piece that is presented in such a way that it's truly up to you to make up your own mind. The only problem with that is regardless of which side you're on, a seed gets planted that causes doubt. Experience this through this portrayal and decide for yourself.
