Justice Marie-Josée Hogue’s final report on foreign interference in Canada dismissed allegations of treason by parliamentarians but highlighted troubling conduct and foreign influence attempts.

She emphasized the need for better safeguards, including protecting diaspora communities and improving election security. Of her 51 recommendations, about half could be implemented quickly, potentially before the expected spring federal election.

These include a hotline for reporting interference, monitoring disinformation, and requiring political parties to track members’ citizenship or residency.

Guest: Vincent Rigby - Former National Security and Intelligence Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada
