The government shutdown rolls on, but Congress is at least working on new ways to fund the military — with one noticeable exception: not paying the troops during a shutdown. Like most other federal workers, members of the Armed Forces likely won’t get their next paycheck, even though Republican leaders could’ve chosen to make that happen. It’s only the latest instance of GOP leaders providing all talk and no action when it comes to supporting the troops, protecting our veterans, and backing the blue.
