January 23rd: Murder of Willie Edwards (1957) Our history is filled with dark events. And, perhaps, some of the darkest involved the thousands of lynchings committed against completely innocent men, women, and children, who were judged by the color of their skin, the religion they practiced, sexuality, and general difference. On January 23rd 1957 a young man with so much brightness in his future disappeared into the night only to have his abductors, his admitted murderers, walk freely for the rest of their lives.
