May 23rd: William Kidd Hanged (1701)
Some stories are more gruesome than others. Some are more fantastical and, though it contains murder, the rest of the details become far more interesting than the crime itself. On May 23rd 1701 a man was hanged for his crimes. Though he did end a man’s life, it was actually his crimes as a pirate, the stuff of fairytales, that ended up leading him straight to the gallows.
