October 5th: Mary Rogers Goes Missing(1838)
Some stories, no matter how devastating, can inspire great works of art that last well beyond the actual details of the crime. On October 5th 1838 a young woman disappeared and, though this was just the beginning of her strange story, her death would go on to inspire an author that people far and wide recognize as one of the greatest writers of all time.
