Sometimes immense guilt can lead to a crime being solved. Or, sometimes, it can lead to a confession that reveals a serial killer had been active for decades completely undetected. On October 30th 1971 a man died behind prison walls who, overcome by guilt, confessed to a criminal career that police had no idea was even occurring.
