April 16th: Anatoly Onoprienko Arrested (1996)
Some serial killings are a slow burn. They kill over the course of years, taking breaks, and savoring their time. Others, set off like a gunshot. On April 16th 1996 a man was arrested on suspicion that he was involved in a string of murders. Over the course of 6 years, he confessed to every murder he committed. His final total, 52 victims. 9 over 2 months in 1989 and 43 more over the course of just over 5 months.
