Today’s Headlines: Syria’s Bashar al-Assad has been ousted after 50 years, with rebel group HTS taking control of Damascus as the U.N. calls for transition talks. In an NBC interview, President-elect Trump vowed mass deportations, January 6th pardons, and jail for political opponents. He also met with Macron and Zelensky in Paris to discuss ending the Ukraine war. Idaho will enforce the first U.S. abortion travel ban for minors, with penalties of 2–5 years for “abortion trafficking.” The suspect in United CEO Brian Thompson’s murder remains at large, with his backpack found in Central Park but no weapon.
