In 2013, after nearly 20 years of drug and alcohol abuse, Kara Burns walked out of federal prison to face the overwhelming challenges of reentering society, addiction recovery and transitioning to a better life.
Since her release, she has dedicated her life to educate about addiction, the challenges associated with being an ex-offender, empowering women through support and mentorship and reducing recidivism, especially among incarcerated women.
