On July 5, 2018, Detective Daniel Hayes of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, north of Atlanta, responded to a most unusual call. A human body in a burn pile. The body was later identified as 58-year-old Gary Farris, the larger-than-life, 300-pound patriarch of the Farris estate, now reduced to skeletal remains. Hayes learned that Gary Farris was a wealthy commercial real estate attorney, married to Melody Farris. They raised four children: Chris, Scott, Emily, and Amanda.
