Ericka Dunlap was raised to be a pageant queen. Her mom taught her early about having the confidence to perform and represent her community with purpose. Those qualities helped her compete and become the 1st African American to hold the Miss America crown and then go on to win the Miss America Crown in 2004. She is a powerhouse speaker who has used her ambition and talent to rise to the top. She is coming to the stage Wednesday December 17th for her 7th Annual Holiday Show. This year, "A Christmas with Soul" comes to Sanford. Tickets available through www.ritztheater.com or www.achristmaswithsoul.com A mother and daughter have taken social media by storm and show the world how to create memories. Dr. Keita Joy Ductant and her daughter Michaela have not only gained attention through one of their posts liked by Grammy Award winning Cardi B but have also created a Thursday morning meet-up at Starbucks that helps solidify their bond. 12-year-old Michaela says, "My mom is really busy, so I look forward to this time as our way of catching up." Dr. Keita Joy is a national speaker and life coach who believes that "One of the most important emotional connections you can make is with your children." So let's do more of that so we can build stronger family bonds. Elizabeth Grace, CEO of the Central Florida Urban League has made a difference in their community appeal during this 1st year of her directorship. She re-introduced the CFUL Young Professionals, an auxiliary group for ages 20 - 40 years who will meet December 18th @ CB Bistro 7pm. The event is FREE for members and those considering participating; it's $20 or donate an unwrapped toy for their gift drive. Mrs. Grace's focus remains on the CFUL's core values, and she is determined to continue offering education, employment and entrepreneurship classes.
