Ep 517Sell In May And Go Away… Or Maybe Not
Sell in May and go away is an aphorism which always works... Sort of. Ok, not always, most times... Not really. ok sometimes. This time tested principal sometimes works. If you combine that with the 3rd year of a presidential cycle, higher than normal interest rates, dropping inflation, over-priced assets, housing problems, and a war (not really a war), and the invention of skynet.Ai, You get... Well I don't know. Frankly, no one of note has any idea what is going on with this market. While that should not surprise you, it should give you pause. Ep 513Beware Deflation Is Back
Another Fed meeting and another disappointment for someone. We look at the CPI numbers and then the Fed decision to pause on rate hikes and it make me scratch my head in confusion. They say they are worried about inflation, and maybe raising rates 1-2 more times this year, yet inflation is dropping quickly, the economy seems to be fine and interest rates are higher than they have been in 20 years. Are we living in the twilight zone, Alice and Wonderland, or fantasy land. it's not entirely clear, but one thing is clear... The Fed is determined to squash inflation no matter what. If they keep on this path, it leads to deflation, which is another boogieman they are afraid of. We will see which monster under the bed they are afraid of most. Both are bad choices, but they cannot sit this one out. I'm still sticking to my claim that we could hit 0% inflation by year end. We are halfway through the year and accelerating towards that number. I might hit the target earlier than expected. Join us this week for another exciting episode about what the end of world looks like. Don't hate us for being optimists 🙂 Today's Panelists: Kirk Chisholm | Innovative Wealth Phil Weiss | Apprise Wealth Management Follow on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/moneytreepodcast Follow LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/showcase/money-tree-investing-podcast Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/MTIPodcast

Ep 510Wall Street Secret #714: Why Active Investing Underperforms
Have you noticed that Active investing tends to underperform? This is one of those non-secret secrets. What is not typically known is why this is the case. Most people claim it is due to fees, but this is not true. Fees only contribute to part of the tracking error. This week's Wall Street Secret dives into why this happens and what you can do to prevent it in your portfolio. Ep 509The Debt Ceiling Is Over… Or Is It?
Congratulations to all of you who survived the debt ceiling debate. Wow. That was a close one... Not really. The markets almost flinched for a half a day... Meanwhile in fantasyland the politicians were telling us how the US would default, we would mint a 1 trillion dollar coin and they would resurrect Abe Lincoln. Well maybe no the last part, but I'm sure they were thinking it. This week we discuss what they put into this historic bill (maybe historic is an exaggeration). But we will talk about it. Also on a more exciting topic. The real estate crisis and recession that are both on pause until further notice. We have an exciting show planned for you.. And that part is not sarcastic. Ep 507The Debt Ceiling Default Is Near… Or Is This Just More Political Theater? I'll Let You Decide
The scary debt ceiling default talking points are behind us... or are they? As you know, we have predicted this was a farce long before the solution was (sort of) agreed to. Can you imagine a situation where the debt ceiling is not raised? Me neither. And "should" has nothing to do with it. This week we discuss the debt ceiling and housing issues. Did you know the average mortgage rate in the US is 8.164%? wow. no words. And you know I'm not short on words. Ep 503Supply and Demand For House Prices Is A Myth
Once again we at Money Tree Investing Podcast are pulling back the curtain on the wizard and spilling the beans on Wall Street Secrets. This week we dispel the notion that supply and demand for house prices is why house prices are still high even though people cannot afford them. It's simply not true. Think about it for a moment. There are 100 widgets in supply. There are 100 people who want a widget. There should be a price that could be agreed upon to purchase those widgets. However what if I only have $100 and the widget costs $1,000. I guess I'm not buying that widget. I still want the widget, but I cannot buy it unless the prices is $100 or lower. That is effectively what is going on in the housing market. Sorry Wall Street. Try your tricks on someone else.
