Building Your Brand: "Queen of Air Fryers" provides marketing tips and recipes that launched her career.

New Money Making Conversations episodes drop daily.  I want to alert you, so you don’t miss out on expert analysis and insider perspectives from my guests who provide tips that can help you uplift the community, improve your financial planning, motivation, or advice on how to be a successful entrepreneur.  Keep winning! Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Cathy Yoder. As a busy mom of 8 kids, Cathy Yoder needed a way to put food on the table fast ... several times a day. This reluctant cook learned how to use an air fryer to make real food, real fast. Today, she's widely regarded as “The Air Fryer Queen” with over 741,000 YouTube subscribers,  6 million video views, and 35,000 cookbooks sold, having turned her aversion to cooking into a thriving online empire inspiring home cooks everywhere to use this versatile appliance for quick, healthy and more cost effective meals. Ironically, Cathy's reluctance to cook was an essential ingredient for building her business, which helps people just like her feel more confident in the kitchen. She has shown millions that air fryers can do much more than reheat leftovers! to prove that air fryers could do more than reheat frozen foods and leftovers. So, she documented the journey on YouTube. Now, just a couple of years later, her channel draws thousands of daily visitors, attracts sponsors, and nets significant affiliate revenue. More importantly, she empowers people to dust off their air fryers and start using them to make simple, delicious meals in minutes. In her own words: True Story. I don't like to cook. But as a busy mom of 8 kids, I needed a way to put food on the table fast--several times a day. I tried meal prep, delivery services, eating out (not good), and more. Nothing worked. Meal prep required too much time in the kitchen. And the other options were too pricey for my deal-seeking nature. That's when I started experimenting with an air fryer. (I may not like cooking, but I enjoy learning new technology.) Soon, I discovered I could make simple, delicious, and mostly nutritious meals in minutes. When my kids ate those first dinners without complaining, I had an "aha moment" that dramatically changed how I cook and the trajectory of my business. In 2020, with a house full of family members STILL needing to eat, I used my phone to record videos of the food I cooked in the air fryer. The kids tried and rated each recipe. Some even pitched in to help chop, mix, and measure. I posted the videos and recipes on YouTube, and here we are. I now have a family full of air fryer enthusiasts. The recipe portion of Fabulessly Frugal (my original business) has grown so much that we are spinning the cooking content into a site called Empowered Cooks. Pine & Pepper is a physical product line of cooking accessories launched earlier this year. Ironically, my reluctance to cook was an essential ingredient for building this thriving culinary business that helps people (like me) feel more confident in the kitchen. #STRAW #BEST #SHMSSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Keep Winning Info #4 - Tips on How to be a successful business owner.

In 2017, two-time Emmy and three-time NAACP Image Award-winning television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald launched his podcast, Money Making Conversations Master Class. Here’s a summary and breakdown of Rushion McDonald’s solo episode on Money Making Conversations Masterclass, including its purpose, key takeaways, and notable quotes. 🎯 Purpose of the Episode Rushion McDonald uses this episode to: Share his personal journey and lessons learned as a business owner. Offer practical advice to aspiring entrepreneurs. Reflect on common mistakes in business and how to avoid them. Encourage listeners to take ownership of their entrepreneurial path. 🔑 Key Takeaways 1. Start with a Plan and a Budget Many entrepreneurs fail because they start businesses without a budget or plan. Budgeting must happen before launching, not after. “You can't open a business and then try to set a budget… now you're playing catch up.” 2. Avoid Hiring Based on Familiarity Hiring friends or family without proper qualifications leads to inefficiency and conflict. Employees should be hired based on merit, not emotional ties. “Do not hire inexperienced employees because they are cheaper.”“Do not hire friends… it’s burnt me.” 3. Time Commitment is Crucial Entrepreneurs must be fully committed to their business. Rushion wakes up at 4:30 AM to work, emphasizing discipline and consistency. “Do you have time for your business?”“I get up at 4:30, Monday to Friday. That’s work.” 4. Consistency Builds Trust Inconsistent operations (e.g., opening late, changing menus) erode customer trust. Businesses must maintain standards to retain loyalty. “If Target’s sign was off on Thursday, Friday, Saturday… you’d think they were out of business.” 5. Learn from Mistakes Rushion shares his experience running a successful but financially mismanaged comedy club. Despite popularity, lack of planning and poor partnerships led to failure. “Hip Hop Comedy Stop… lines out the door… made no money.” 6. Use Free Resources He recommends the Small Business Administration (SBA) and SCORE for budgeting and mentorship. These organizations offer free guidance and support. “Do not step out there dreaming without planning… SBA and SCORE are free.” 7. Location and Logistics Matter Parking and accessibility are often overlooked but critical to customer experience. His comedy club suffered due to lack of parking and rising insurance costs. “I had no parking… bad things start happening.” 🗣️ Notable Quotes “You can't look at $10 as a real $10.” “You cannot win like that… running a business based on friendship, no budget, family, and a partner I didn’t know.” “Only you look in the mirror and make a decision that benefits you, your family, and your future.” “Dreaming without planning will slap you in the face and wake you up into a nightmare.” #BEST #STRAW #SHMSSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Josh Jalinski.   Host of The Financial Quarterback radio show, joins Money Making Conversations Masterclass to discuss financial security, Social Security misconceptions, inflation, compound interest, and health insurance. Recognized by Forbes as one of America’s top financial security professionals, he provides expert insights into wealth-building strategies. 🔑 Key Themes & Highlights Social Security & Retirement Myths Many Americans mistakenly believe Social Security alone will provide a comfortable retirement. Josh explains how previous generations lived on Social Security because they had paid-off homes and lower living expenses, but today’s economic climate makes that unrealistic. Inflation & Its Effects Inflation occurs when too much money chases too few goods, causing price increases. Covid stimulus packages contributed to rising costs as large amounts of money entered circulation. Everyday consumers feel inflation in higher grocery prices, shrinking product sizes (shrinkflation), and increased gas costs. Understanding Compound Interest Compound interest is a powerful wealth-building tool that allows money to grow exponentially over time. Many financial advisors focus on stocks and investments but fail to educate clients on the importance of long-term compounding without interruptions. Josh emphasizes the Rule of 72, explaining how money doubles based on the interest rate earned. Choosing the Right Financial Advisor A strong advisor should educate clients on key financial principles, not just offer investment options like conservative, moderate, or aggressive portfolios. The real key to wealth is understanding compounding and ensuring investments grow steadily over time. Health Insurance Challenges Rising health insurance costs are forcing companies to drop coverage and restructure their plans. Josh suggests a two-tier system where private insurers handle healthy individuals while the government provides expanded Medicaid for those with higher risks. 📘 Resources & Contact InformationJosh Jalinski’s financial insights are available via:🔗 Podcast: The Financial Quarterback (Spotify)🔗 Website: FinancialQuarterback.com #BEST #STRAW #SHMSSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

She meets with clients online and her company Scholar Ready tutors Math, conducts personal essay writing workshops, and prepares students for PSAT, SAT, and ACT exams. Houston native, entrepreneur, and educator, Jennifer Ledwith understood from a young age that education and literacy were crucial to success. Again and again, people told her that her mother — a single parent with serious debt and no child support — made too much money for her to get any free money for college. She didn't finish in the top 10% of her high school class (which is academic poison in her home state of Texas). Thankfully, her PSAT scores were high, and she could write the essays to get the money. She knew how to beg for money tactfully in 100 words. She knew why she wanted to get a business degree from the University of Oklahoma. From her junior year of high school to her junior year of college, she wrote essays for over 30 scholarships. She won enough money to pay for tuition and fees. She had the most scholarships when she walked across the stage at graduation. The announcer was still reading them after she had crossed the stage. Even then, she didn't have enough money for school. She worked and worked and continued to apply for scholarships. She graduated from an out-of-state university (University of Oklahoma) with no credit card debt and only $1,000 in student loans. Hey, a girl needs plane tickets. How Has The BOSS Network Celebrated Its Milestone 15th Anniversary?: This year, The BOSS Network announced two exciting initiatives that took place during its yearlong celebration highlighting its 15th anniversary milestone year.“Invest in Progress” Grant and “The BOSS Impact Fund”:The single greatest barrier to success for new businesses and startups is access to capital, and minorities make up less than 1% of founders that get investment. The BOSS Network and Sage (via the Sage Foundation)—the leader in accounting, financial, HR, and payroll technology for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), are partnering together to remove that barrier with the return of the BOSS Impact Fund and its three-year, $1.5 million commitment to support the Fund with the “Invest in Progress” grant investing in Black women led businesses. In 2022, the BOSS Network announced the launch of its BOSS Impact Fund, which focuses on investing in Black women led businesses and preparing these entrepreneurs to build scalable, growth aggressive companies. Its goal is to raise investment funding for Black women entrepreneurs over a three year period.Through the “Invest in Progress” Grant Program, 25 Black women entrepreneurs had the opportunity to receive a capital investment of $10,000 toward successfully starting and growing their business in addition to an entrepreneurial mentor program in support of Black women-owned small businesses. The “Invest in Progress” Grant has also provided coaching, curriculum, and connections while removing capital barriers to help this group achieve success. For more information, please visit: BOSSImpactFund.com. Pathways to Success:In addition, The BOSS Network partnered with both Sage and Swoop, a global fintech company specializing in funding solutions for businesses, on the launch of “Pathways to Success”–a new training and mentorship program designed to support Black women entrepreneurs in Atlanta. The Pathways to Success training and mentor program, developed and delivered through Sage Foundation, equipped 150 Atlanta-based Black women entrepreneurs with a structured series of training and roundtables, providing tactical advice to address and overcome financial and capital-raising challenges. The program was developed as a direct result of Sage, The BOSS Network and Swoop’s report titled “Voices of Strength: Pathways to Success for Black Women Founders” launched in September 2023. The report identified the most prominent challenges Black women founders in Atlanta face, including a lack of access to funding through grants and government resources, mentorship, and the ability to digitally scale their businesses for growth. Participants will receive one year of training access and a three-year membership to The BOSS Network.
