[Florida Files] Beverly McGowan: Killed by her Roommate
On July 19, 1990, a couple exploring near a canal in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, made a horrifying discovery: the dismembered body of a woman, with her head and hands removed. The victim was Beverly McGowan, a 34-year-old Philadelphia native who had been living and working in Fort Lauderdale. Beverly was a quiet, hardworking woman who kept to herself and was considered a workaholic by those who knew her. Beverly's throat had been slit, and her killer had crudely dismembered her body with a machete in an attempt to conceal her identity. The only identifying mark left on her body was a small yellow rose tattoo on her ankle. The investigation led to Elaine Parent, a con artist and identity thief who had befriended Beverly and then brutally murdered her before fleeing to London using a stolen identity. Elaine's pattern of stealing identities, manipulating victims, and evading law enforcement made her one of the most dangerous criminals Florida had ever seen. This is the story of Beverly McGowan—a woman whose trust was betrayed in the most horrific way—and the relentless pursuit of her killer. New episodes every Tuesday and Thursday!
