In this video Martin talks about using Voice Typing Dictanote Case & GrammarlyCurated by Martin R RickettsIn this fast-paced digital world, those who execute with speed and precision will win the day. Voice typing, or dictation, is faster than typing with your fingers. Speech recognition software can translate over 150 words per minute, while the average person types around 40 words per minute.The best professional transcriptionists only get up to 80 words per minute, which is also much slower than voice typing. I have heard some people say, well, voice typing isn't very accurate, but that's largely on you. If you enunciate properly and practice, you can get accuracy levels over 95%, and in many cases, 100% accuracy is possible.As you can see, I just voice type this sentence with 100% accuracy. There are still some grammatical and structural issues to address, but we have a tool for that and we'll talk about that. So the tool we're using is called Voice in Typing. The reason we use Voice in typing is because it works in virtually any text field.And so if you're in social media where you're typing in comments, or you're typing in for a post, or you're doing a WhatsApp web and you're typing in a message anywhere, where there's a chrome-based field text field, you can use voice in typing. Now, I'm talking about the Pay version here. It's a no-brainer.This tool is so powerful, I use it all day, every day. It's just buy it, okay? It's very well worth it. And they understand that less is more. That's one of the key things that I like about this software. It doesn't do a gazillion extra things. It does exactly what it needs to do and nothing more.For instance, in Settings, you can set the language, which I'm going to set to Canada, because I'm in Canada, and you can set the font and size. That's all they have in there right now. Voice commands, I don't use them too much, but ones such as undo will do the last undo the last thing you did.So if I'm typing something, now is the time for all good men, then I stop typing. Then that's what it's going to undo. It's not going to undo all the rest of stuff. So if I type something else like this, then it puts it down there and I stop. Each one of those segments can be erased. Undo, undo, undo.The keyboard shortcut to turn on the mic. You can see it's red right now. And now it's not red, is shift control nine. You can change that, but I don't recommend you do. It's a good one that doesn't interfere with most other stuff. I just spent the last couple of hours doing five original posts based on information I read, but then I created my own narrative.That isn't easy, but Chat GPT makes it easier because I can generate text around the particular message and then take parts of that and expand on it. It's like a relay race. It's easier if you get a head start and you're running rather than starting from scratch. Chat GPT allows you to get a head start to give you some ideas about your text, and then you can infuse your personal narrative; we solve the last mile problem.It's the gap between the promise of the latest technology like Chat GPT, Dalle and these other AI devices and the interpretation of how people use it. So there will always be a last-mile problem with technology because, like Chat GPT, you need somebody to take that tool and make something out of it. And that will always be the case, no matter how good it gets.With the emergence of cell phones, there was a time when they were super expensive, and so many rich people had them. But then, when everyone started to get them, rich people hired a person to carry their cell phones. Not at least that's what I heard happened in some of the rich countries. So again, there'll always be somebody that will want to pay for extended services, curated services, or better services than what you can get from the technology now. Martin recently had an issue with Instacart so he decided to write them a letter. Writing letters to corporations’s customer service department is good practice for negotiations with clients. In the last three months, there have been changes to the service, not to the customers' benefit. Initially, when I started using the service, I had an issue and Instacart and instantly refunded me. The next time I had a problem, it took about three days. And now I find that Instacart prioritizes deliveries based on the tip size.No doubt, like other customers, I feel nickel-and-dimed by Instacart. I paid the flat fee for FREE delivery; at the time, the marketing suggested that my delivery fee would be zero. But now there are endless checkout charges, including a delivery fee that isn't zero, a heavy fee, a gas surcharge, a bag fee, a sugar-sweetened beverages fee, and of course sales tax which on groceries is surprisingly one of the smaller fees.And as if all that wasn't enough, we were then asked to pay a tip for the workers. I understand that many fees are government-mandated such as taxes and bottle deposits. However, the main reason I don't do the shopping in person is that it's heavy, so charging me a heavy fee is ridiculous. And as for the tip? I think it's disingenuous for companies to ask customers to pay their workers a tip. Your industry can do mental gymnastics to justify that your workers are not employees but don't make me pay for something that is clearly a YOU problem. Nevertheless, I've been begrudgingly paying the minimum amount in the past.But today, I was treated with yet another insult. For the first time, I saw my delivery time measured in days, not hours. Because I didn't comply and pay up the tip amount requested; instead, I paid $5. Then I was informed after instacart took my money, I would receive my groceries sometime between the 5th and 6th of September. Are you freaking serious?The entire reason I use instacart is because it's supposed to be instant! It's in your freaking name! Why the hell would I order groceries from Walmart through Instacart when Walmart (or Uber or any number of competitors) can deliver them to me faster than Instacart can?I'm an entrepreneur, so I'm aware of the challenges in monetizing this business model. But if Instacart punishes clients who don't want to cough up yet another fee, one that arguably should be borne by Instacart, then I predict your company will not survive.Instacart is playing a very dangerous game here. But the way you build that relationship, now this is the good news, is social media. People diss on social media, but it is the best way to build your brand and build relationships where, then people over time will get to know, like, and trust you and then buy what you have to offer.It's a fantastic way of doing that, and the language of social media is storytelling. And for storytelling, you need video because people don't like to read. You can certainly do all the rest of the types of media, video, audio, text, all of that but video is really the one that's going to move the needle. And so content is king.
