How We’re Accidentally Raising People Pleasers with Therapist Maggie Nick

Where do people pleasers come from? Why do they do it? What’s their origin story?Therapist and founder of “Parenting with Perspectacles” Maggie Nick joins the show to explain how patterns of low self-worth show up as people pleasing, perfectionism, and controlling behaviors. She shares how parents need to put on their “Perspectacles” to catch themselves when they are accidentally and unintentionally falling into the way they were parented and making their children feel ashamed when they act out their stress or express their emotions. With the right “Perspectacles” on, parents can start meeting their children where they are developmentally and physiologically to make them feel seen and loved, no matter their behavior. Sometimes in order to parent our children, we need to reparent ourselves. If you’re a people pleaser or a recovering one, you need to listen to this conversation!Links:https://www.instagram.com/parentingwithperspectacles/https://register.maggienick.com/goSupport the show Follow & DM me @modernmomprobs Pick up my book Check out modernmomprobs Shout out to Citizens of Sound Leave a review
