Like a boat passing through water, your words, choices, and faith leave something behind — in your family, your community, and ultimately in how you are remembered when your life is over.

In this teaching from the Torah, we reflect on God’s sobering and beautiful command:

“Be holy, for I am holy.”

From Genesis to Deuteronomy, Scripture shows us that holiness is not about perfection, but about direction — about the kind of wake a life leaves behind. Abraham, Moses, Israel in the wilderness — each left a wake that shaped generations, for blessing or for loss.

This message gently but honestly asks:

  • What are you leaving behind right now?
  • What will remain after you’re gone?
  • And how can the time we still have be redeemed?
  • This is not a message of fear — it is a pastoral invitation to walk with God, to choose life, and to leave a wake that reflects His goodness.
