Hebrews 7 highlights the theme “Melchizedek,” revealing the
superiority of Jesus’ eternal priesthood compared to the Levitical
priesthood. Melchizedek, an ancient priest who blessed Abraham,
serves as a type of Christ, with neither beginning nor end. This
chapter presents Jesus as the guarantor of a better covenant,
one that saves completely and is forever effective. It emphasizes
that Jesus, as the high priest, intercedes for us and has made the
ultimate sacrifice once and for all, abolishing the need for the old
system of sacrifices.
