Their church ministry has grown and now includes the development of Safe Haven Outreach Ministries and Counseling services. Lemar grew up in a Memphis housing project and remembers the anger and radical behavior that seemed to control his life, leading him down a promiscuous road filled with drugs, alcohol, and a hatred of America. Every child belongs in a safe and loving family. But right now, the child welfare system – the federal, state and county government agencies charged with this responsibility – has been stretched beyond its expertise and capacity. The failures of the child welfare system are at the root of some our nation’s biggest challenges. As many as 70 percent of youth in the juvenile justice system have been in the child welfare system. One-third of homeless young adults were previously in foster care. Bishop Vincent E. Ministry, as Pastor Danny puts it, “has to be a very personal calling from the Lord.” He says, as a pastor you must realize that the church doesn’t belong to you, the church is the bride of Christ. Pastors must lead very passionately and lovingly, but please never do any harm to the bride of Christ.
