It was 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28,1942. The location was Hamtramck, a then-booming industrial town completely surrounded by Detroit and abutting Highland Park. Tragedy struck when a train collided with a bus, killing 16 people and seriously injuring 11 others.
