בכל ז'אנר מטאלי ישנן את "להקות האם" אשר היו הראשונות שבעצם יצרו והתחילו את אותו כיוון מוזיקלי ומהן להקות רבות למדו ושאבו השראה לאורך השנים. מידי פעם נמצא להקות שלא הסתפקו בהשראה אלא לקחו מודל של להקה אחרת והעתיקו אותו ממש אחד לאחד. לפעמים זו העתקה בוטה בסגנון שירה ייחודי, לפעמים זה חיקוי ברור של צורת הנגינה וכתיבת ריפים, ולפעמים זה אף יגיע לשכפול גנטי זהה החל מבחירת הנושאים לכתיבה ועד לסאונד כולו. מת על מטאל במרדף אחר להקות שיבוט שגנבו את זהותן מאחרות – ה-Clones.
