In John 11:4 we see the event where a friend of Yeshua, Lazarus, is on his death bed and Yeshua says that His Father will receive honor in what happens. Rabbi Steve Berkson brings this event into your life today by pointing out that something you may be going through looks to be hopeless, but to hang on and stay strong, for when you come out of your situation you’ll be able to bring honor to your Heavenly Father.

Then in John 12:20-26 Yeshua says, “If anyone serves Me, the Father shall value him.” By the definition we’ve learned about the word honor, we know that to value someone or something is another form of honoring that someone or something. What does it look like to you to ‘serve’ someone? What does it mean to “hate” your life?
