Near the end of the reign of Darius of Persia, he commands one of his armies to invade Greece. Darius landed one of his armies at the Bay of Marathon and the Athenians marched out to confront them. The result was the battle of Marathon, an embarrassment to the Persians and the beginning of a generation of hostilities between the Persians and the Greek city-states.
