NASAs Van Allen Probe, a 1300-pound satellite, is set to re-enter Earths atmosphere on March 10th, around 5:45 PM MST. Launched in 2012, it exceeded its two-year lifespan by 12 years, providing valuable data on Earths radiation belts. These belts protect us from harmful space particles but pose risks for astronauts. Most of the probe will burn up, but any surviving pieces will likely splash down in the ocean, posing minimal risk to people.
